Please join NYU Africa House and The African Affairs Committee of the United Nations Association Southern New York State Division Young Professionals (“UNA-SNY Young Professionals”) for the annual Friends of Africa Benefit Gala, a celebration of “Energy for Africa,” on Thursday, November 15th. We will honor Dr. Abeeku Brew-Hammond, Board Chairman- Energy Commission of Ghana, and member of the UN Secretary General’s High Level Working Group for the Sustainable Energy For All (SEFA) Initiative. Dr. Stephen Gitonga, Policy Advisor for the Environment and Energy Group of the Bureau for Development Policy, UNDP, will be the keynote speaker. A portion of the proceeds from the night will go towards supporting “Elephant Energy”, a non-profit based in Denver, Colorado and Katima Mulilo, Namibia. MTV Base Africa’s Vanessa Mdee will be the host for the evening and a DJ will provide music and entertainment. Guests will also enjoy a silent auction, raffle prizes, and refreshments.
