Global bazaar met county fair at this third annual festival within the PEN World Voices Festival. Guests were able to discover a world of literature and music in NYU’s beautiful Washington Mews, and its International Houses and Institutes. As part of the event, NYU Africa House hosted a Writers Workshop on “Perspectives From African Writers” with authors Véronique Tadjo and Rashidah Ismaili. Véronique Tadjo (Ivory Coast) is a writer, academic, artist, and author of books for young people. Tadjo’s latest novel is titled, Loin de mon père (Paris: Actes Sud, 2010). Rashidah Ismaili (Benin) is an essayist, poet, playwright, activist and conference convener. Ismaili’s new novel in linked stories is titled, Autobiography of the Lower East Side (Northampton House Press, 2014).
