We are seeking a Student Program Assistant to support the major events and programs hosted by Africa House and affiliate Development Research Institute (DRI) during the 2019/2020 academic year. Some of these events may include the annual DRI conference, the biennial Africa House Gala, our Presidential Forum, and other forums or seminars to bring together high-profiled individuals in the global African development community.
In this position, the student would not only be able to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes at Africa House and the Development Research Institute, but they would also be able to interact with the various high-profiled and widely respected speakers and guests that attend our events. We are seeking a Student Program Assistant to support the research of our Director, Professor Yaw Nyarko, which includes African economic development, technological adaption, and the history of the growth of industry in specific African countries and rural destinations. Primary duties will include research support for academic projects, such as creating bibliographies and writing literature reviews and policy briefs. We are seeking a Grants Manager to oversee and manage the department's portfolio of funding for Africa House, Center for Technology and Economic Development, and Development Research Institute. The Grants Manager would be required to manage and reconcile expenditures to the University's financial system, and will serve as a liaison between the department and central University Offices, federal, state, and city corporate agencies, and private foundations regarding externally funded grants.
